The Art of the Meddah (Public Storytelling) may be described as the art of telling stories for the purpose of entertaining an audience with impersonations and animation. Those who practice this art are calledmeddah from metheden, the Arabic word for “one who praises.”

Nevruz
Nevruz is widely celebrated in the northern hemisphere, particularly in societies that speak Turkish and Persian. Nevruz comes from the Persian words nev and ruz. In Turkey it is also called Nevruz-I Sultan, Sultan Nevruz, Navrız, Newroz, Noruz, Mart Dokuzu (March 9th), Gün Dönümü (The Turning of the Day), Yılsırtı (The Ridge of the Year), Yumurta Bayramı (The Egg Holiday). Nevruz actually means “new day” and is a celebration of spring that is regarded as the first day of the year in many societies. According to the Gregorian calendar, Nevruz begins on March 21st.
Karagöz
Karagöz is a shadow play performed on a white curtain with a backlight reflecting figures of humans, animals or objects called tasvir made from camel or water buffalo hide and attached to rods.
Traditional Sohbet Meetings
Groups with different numbers of men come together especially in the wintertime within the framework of certain rules and serve a social solidarity function. The day chosen for the meetings is generally Thursday, Friday or Saturday. The meetings begin in the evenings and end around midnight. Every member is expected to arrive at the meeting on time and leave on time.

Defined as two people engaged in a mental and physical struggle using no tools or equipment under equal conditions in a specified area, according to specific rules and for a specified time, wrestling is one of the oldest sports in human history. Wrestling has been a popular and traditional practice in every age. In Turkey, it is referred to as the ancestor sport.
Turkish Coffee Culture and Tradition
Turkish Coffee is not only a beverage but also a communal practice that brings together cultural spaces, social values and beliefs within a context of socialization process. Its role socialization can be traced back to opening of the first coffeehouses with its noticeable decorations in Istanbul. Coffee houses were then, and still are the places where people drink coffee, converse, share news, read books and socialize. The tradition itself is a symbol of hospitality, friendship, delicacy, and entertainment. All these are reflected in the famous Turkish proverb “the memory of a cup of coffee lasts for forty years.” This saying represents how important and profound coffee is in Turkish culture.
Ebru: Turkish Art of Marbling
Ebru is the traditional art of creating colorful patterns by sprinkling and brushing color pigments on a pan of oily water and then transforming this pattern to a special paper. It has been atraditional art of book enriching calligraphy and binding books for many centuries. In the 13th century, the first forms of Ebru emerged in Central Asia and spread to Anatolia through . During the Ottoman period, Turkish calligraphers and artists created new forms and perfected techniques.
Traditional Crafsmanshis of Çini-Making
Glazed tile and ceramic household stuffs or wallboards of several colours and motifs made by firing the pulped clay soil are called “çini”. Çini-making means the craftsmanship shaped around traditional Turkish art of çini since 12th century with its own specific production and adornment techniques like “minai”, “luster”, “polishing”, “underglaze”.

Spring Celebration: Hıdrellez (Multinational - 2017)
Hıdrellez is an element of the common intangible cultural heritage of Republic of Macedonia and Republic of Turkey that has been transmitting from generation to generation through centuries. Spring Celebration: Hıdrellez contains four domains of intangible heritage which are oral traditions and expression; performing arts; social practices, rituals and festive events; knowledge and practices concerning nature.
Whistled Language
